We meet the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM at the Community House in Kennebunkport, except July and August. Our monthly meeting includes a brief club update, social time and a featured guests speaker.

September 7, 2023: Diane Lent
Attend our first meeting of the year at the Community House and watch as talented artist, Diane Lent creates a painting before your eyes! While she is painting, she will speak about her art and what motivates her to paint. At the end of her talk, the painting should be complete. Move over Matisse!
October 5, 2023: Dr. Pamela Bluestone
A veterinarian at Kennebunk Veterinary Hospital and a certified veterinary acupuncturist, Dr Bluestone will address our group. Dr. Bluestone (and her veterinary technician) will demonstrate acupuncture techniques on a canine patient while she speaks of what made her explore eastern medicine (acupuncture, complementary laser. and herbal remedies) to combine with her knowledge of traditional western veterinary medicine.
November 2, 2023: A field trip to MOTORLAND
Join us at MOTORLAND, 2564 Portland Road, Arundel. We will meet in the Maine Classic Car Museum where owner Tim Stentiford will address us amidst the cars, pointing out the “Stars” in the collection. He will also tell us about Motorland’s community outreach efforts, including a course the company custom designed for the Osher Life Long Learning Institute (OLLI) at USM. Don’t worry, there won’t be a quiz at the end of the lecture!

January 4, 2024: Kate McBrien (ZOOM Presentation)
ZOOM in with us from here or away as we learn about the story of Malaga Island from Maine State Archivist, Kate McBrien. Kate will discuss the true history of Malaga Island (off the coast of Phippsburg Maine). Who lived there in the late 1800’s? What happened to the people of this community? Why did the State of Maine take action to evict them from their homes?
February 1, 2024: Amy Bass (ZOOM Presentation)
Zoom in again with us as we listen to Emmy Award winning writer, Professor Amy Bass, Chair of the Division of Social Science and Communication at Manhattanville College where her courses focus on sport, culture, and politics. She will share insights about her book ONE GOAL: A Coach, A Team, and the Game that brought a Divided Town Together. It is an inspiring tale about how the game of soccer brought together the local population and a growing Somali immigrant community in Lewiston Maine.

April 4, 2024: Book Swap
Following last year’s popular book swap, we’ll do it again before we hear Bruce Robert Coffin talk about his life changing switch from a former detective sergeant with more than 27 years in law enforcement to award winning author of the Detective Byron mysteries, set in Portland Maine. Bring some books to swap and cash to purchase our author’s autographed books. Indeed, a night for book lovers!
May 2, 2024: Colby Nunan - the Nunan Lobstering Legacy
Colby Nunan is the co-owner and manager of the Three Seas Lobster and Fish Market in Cape Porpoise. He comes from a long line of Nunans who made a living by developing a relationship with the local economy of boat building and fishing. The first Nunans were Irish immigrants who moved from Provincetown to Cape Porpoise in 1861. We will hear about what it is like to grow up in such a family, and how he will carry that tradition on in his own way. He is intimately involved in the fishing industry and concerned about every aspect of it.
