2013-2014 Monthly Meetings
Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month from September to June at the Community
House in Kennebunkport. Refreshments are served during social time before each program.
September 5 – War of 1812
Vice Admiral George W. Emery, USN (Retired) presented his new book of the War of 1812, In Their Own Words. The exciting story of the War of 1812 told from start to finish, in the words of those who fought it.
October 3 – Eastern Trail
Joe Yuhas and Jim Bucar presented the Eastern Trail and East Coast Greenway and all it has to offer for bikers and hikers.
November 7 – Carlisle Academy
Sarah Armentrout, co-founder of this premier integrative riding school in Lyman, Maine will make a presentation of how the school impacts hundreds of children and adults with disabilities.
December 5 – Annual Holiday Dinner Party at the Nonantum Resort, Kennebunkport.
January 9 – History of Kennebunkport
Joyce Butler will discuss her book, Kennebunkport: the Evolution of an American Town, a comprehensive, chronological, 400-year history of the town from 1603 to 2003.
February 6 – Our Changing Beaches
Jake Aman, Research Associate, Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve, will lead a presentation on “Our Changing Beaches” and what has been learned through the volunteer beach profile monitoring program.
March 6 – Pot Luck Dinner. Community House, Kennebunkport.
April 3 – Life Saving Resources
Gerry Dworkin will present a fast-paced and informative session that will discuss how to get out of a submerged vehicle for a safe and effective evacuation.
May 1 – Laudholm Farms
Nik Charov will discuss his work with the Laudholm Trust and the upcoming season at the Wells Reserve.
June 5 – Newcomers Travelogue. Carolyn Kershaw discussed a river cruise to Ukraine.
